For years, Donald Trump has frequently criticized former President Barack Obama, blaming him for different issues. The latest dispute involved the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, where Trump claimed problems with the project were connected to Obama’s administration.
Obama responded by saying Trump’s repeated focus on him looks like an obsession. During a podcast interview, he joked that he has a “suite in Trump’s head” and is living there “rent-free.”
Obama’s larger point was that leaders should spend their energy solving current problems instead of constantly looking back at past rivals. He said when he was president, he focused on the challenges facing the country rather than thinking about his predecessor.
