THE LETTER MY FATHER LEFT BEHIND after he left us – EPISODE 6 — THE BETRAYAL

EPISODE 6 — THE BETRAYAL
We returned to the family house before sunrise.
The police were already there.
But something felt wrong.
Richard stood among them.
He looked calm.
Too calm.
He approached me.
“Lena, I’m sorry.”
I stared at him.
“For what?”
“For everything you’re about to discover.”
Mom stepped behind me.
Richard saw her.
For the first time, his expression changed.
“You’re alive.”
Mom said nothing.
Richard looked at me.
“You don’t know what she did.”
My mother stepped forward.
“Don’t you dare.”
Richard smiled.
“You still think you can rewrite history.”
I wanted to scream.
“You killed my father.”
“I didn’t.”
“You threatened him.”
“I warned him.”
“You stole from him.”
“I protected what he built.”
I couldn’t believe him.
Then Mom whispered:
“Richard, it’s over.”
He laughed.
“No. It isn’t.”
He walked away.
That night, we searched the hidden room again.
We found Dad’s final box.
Inside were bank records, emails, photographs and recordings.
There was also a handwritten note.
Richard knows.
If you are reading this, he has probably already found you.
Do not confront him until you have the complete evidence.
Then came the most shocking discovery.
A document showed that Richard had been transferring money to several people.
One of those names belonged to a police officer.
The same officer who had investigated Mom’s disappearance.
Emma stared at the document.
“He bought the entire investigation.”
Mom nodded.
“He made everyone believe I was dead.”
Suddenly, we heard a voice downstairs.
“Lena!”
Richard.
He had returned.
We turned off the lights.
Footsteps approached.
Then the door opened.
Richard entered.
He looked around.
“You can’t hide forever.”
Mom whispered:
“The tunnel.”
We grabbed the box and ran.
We escaped through the basement.
As we crawled through the narrow tunnel, I held Dad’s box tightly against my chest.
Behind us, we heard Richard shouting.
But we didn’t stop.
For the first time, I realized something.
Dad hadn’t left us a mystery.
He had left us a weapon.
The truth.
