MY FATHER INVITED 50 PEOPLE TO MY RESTAURANT

PART 1
My father called me Friday morning.
“Clear the restaurant Saturday night. I’m having my retirement party.”
“I can’t. We’re already booked.”
He laughed.
“It’s my restaurant too.”
“No, Dad. It’s mine.”
The next evening, fifty guests arrived.
My father stood at the entrance greeting everyone.
Then I discovered something strange.
Several guests had paid him deposits.
He had told them he owned the restaurant.
I called the police.
My father insisted it was a misunderstanding.
Then one guest stepped forward.
“I paid him $2,000.”
Another said, “So did I.”
Within minutes, six people admitted they had paid him.
The total was over $18,000.
My father was taken aside for questioning.
I thought that was the whole story.
It wasn’t.
PART 2
An officer asked me to check my business bank account.
I opened the records.
My stomach dropped.
There were dozens of withdrawals I hadn’t authorized.
The total was $146,000.
My father had secretly accessed my business account for months.
Then the accountant discovered something worse.
He had taken out a business loan using my restaurant as collateral.
The loan was due in three days.
If I hadn’t discovered it, the bank could have seized my restaurant.
But the final discovery shocked me most.
Police searched my father’s office.
Inside was a resignation letter with my forged signature.
He had planned to make it appear that I voluntarily transferred control of the restaurant to him.
My father hadn’t been planning a retirement party.
He had been planning to steal my entire business.
The police seized the documents.
I kept the restaurant.
And I removed one thing from the wall that night:
The photograph of my father.
