Olivia put her grandmother Ruth’s $687,000 beach house into a trust to protect it after Ruth began having memory problems. The trust prevented anyone from selling the house without proper approval.

One day, Olivia arrived and caught her brother-in-law Carter forcing Grandma to sign papers transferring the property. She discovered that Carter and Olivia’s sister Melanie were secretly trying to sell the house to pay off Carter’s debts. They had even forged Olivia’s name on a trustee authorization.

Olivia had evidence from a hidden camera, emails, and the forged document. She called her attorney and Adult Protective Services. The fraudulent sale was stopped, Carter faced a fraud investigation, and Melanie separated from him.

Grandma was allowed to stay in her beloved beach house. Olivia strengthened the trust, changed the locks, and installed security cameras.

Takeaway: Olivia protected her grandmother from being exploited and discovered that true family means protecting someone when they are vulnerable.

Olivia put her grandmother Ruth’s $687,000 beach house into a trust to protect it after Ruth began having memory problems.
