Tina and her husband Greg finally buy their first home after three years of saving. Tina is pregnant, excited, and especially happy that the house has a basement apartment where Greg’s sister Tessa and her son Jacob can stay during visits.

During the housewarming, Tessa privately confronts Tina and says she doesn’t deserve the house because Greg earns most of the money. She reveals that she resents Tina for replacing her as the most important person in Greg’s life—Tessa used to be his beneficiary and emergency contact. She calls Tina “the girl who got lucky” and insists the house is really Greg’s.

Greg overhears the confrontation and immediately defends his wife. He tells Tessa that Tina is his wife, that the house is theirs, and that Tessa will not be welcome if she continues treating Tina that way. Greg’s parents also side with Tina, while Tessa’s teenage son Jacob makes it clear that he loves staying with his aunt and uncle.

Later, Tessa sends a message supposedly wanting to “clear the air,” but she still blames Tina and calls her lucky for marrying into money. Greg recognizes that it isn’t a genuine apology. Tina accepts that she may never be close to Tessa, but she realizes she has Greg’s love, supportive in-laws, and a nephew who cares about her.
