Lara never expected her world to tilt at 2:25 p.m. on a Friday. A missed call. Then another. It was her six-year-old son, Ben, whispering in fear. Something was wrong at home. Ruby, their babysitter, was unconscious, and Ben didn’t know what to do. He\u2019d tried to help but couldn\u2019t wake her up.<\/p>\n

Rushing home, Lara\u2019s mind raced as she pushed her car through red lights. When she arrived, the house was eerily still. Ben was hiding in the closet, clutching his stuffed dinosaur. He had seen Ruby collapse, and in his panic, he had called her, trying to help, then waited alone, scared.<\/p>\n

Lara found Ruby on the floor, alive but barely responsive. She quickly called 911. The paramedics soon arrived, and Ruby was stabilized. It turned out she had fainted from dehydration, but for Lara, the real shock came from realizing what Ben had experienced. He had tried to save Ruby, remembering everything Lara had taught him, but in doing so, he had been forced to confront a terrifying situation alone.<\/p>\n
