He helped with school stuff, took care of me when I was sick, and paid for things like lunch and field trips\u2014things my parents wouldn\u2019t or couldn\u2019t handle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"493\" data-end=\"806\">As I got older, I became more of a caretaker at home\u2014cooking, running errands, and helping with my brother\u2019s needs. Meanwhile, my parents never supported me academically or thought about college for me. When my guidance counselor reached out multiple times about college forms and financial aid, they ignored her.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"808\" data-end=\"1137\">Recently, they asked me to babysit so they could go out. I said no. They told me I should help my family more, considering \u201call they\u2019ve done for me.\u201d I asked them to name one thing they\u2019ve done <em data-start=\"1002\" data-end=\"1010\">for me<\/em>, not my brother. They couldn\u2019t. They called me spiteful and immature.
