My in-laws told me to skip the 4th of July parade because of my pregnancy migraines. I reluctantly agreed. But when a leaking kitchen faucet forced me to FaceTime my husband, I accidentally discovered the truth.<\/p>\n

There was no parade. Steve was at a backyard barbecue\u2014with his ex, Hazel\u2014surrounded by red, white, and blue decorations. His family had lied to keep me away, so he could reunite with her. I saw it all through the still-connected call.<\/p>\n

I showed up anyway, drenched and furious, only to be met with stunned silence. Hazel didn\u2019t even know he was married\u2014he\u2019d told her he was single. My in-laws made it worse, suggesting a paternity test and calling me \u201cclingy\u201d because I work long hours as a nurse.<\/p>\n
