My Date Refused to Order Me Dessert Because He ‘Likes Skinny Women’—I Made Sure He’d Never Forget This Dinner

I went on a first date last week with Mark, a guy I met on a dating app. His bio screamed “fitness obsessed” and “no excuses.” He picked a trendy Italian spot, and when we sat down, he dove into his strict fitness routine and his “meal prep” of chicken and broccoli every day.
When I went to order truffle gnocchi, he made a comment about how you could tell someone’s self-respect by what they ate. I shrugged it off, but things took a turn when the dessert menu came. Mark casually shut it in front of me, saying, “She’ll pass. She’s had enough.” He even added that he liked “skinny women.”
Something in me snapped. I politely smiled and decided to treat the two older ladies at the table behind us to dessert. Mark was stunned, but I stood up, walked over to the women, and joined them for dessert. We shared laughs and stories while Mark sulked at our table, poking at his fish.
Before I left, I gave Mark one last parting shot: “If he tries to flirt with you when I leave, just tell him you like chocolate.” The whole restaurant erupted in laughter, and I walked out with my head held high, feeling free and empowered.
Two days later, the server DMed me saying, “Legend behavior.” Honestly, I was just reminded that real respect has nothing to do with calories. It was about standing up for myself, my dignity, and my appetite.
