I Caught My Wife in the Shower With a Student. The School Did Nothing.

I (M27) thought my wife (F29) and I had a happy marriage. We’d been together for years, and things always seemed solid between us. Recently, she switched jobs—moving from teaching at an elementary school to working at the local high school. Not long after, she started working late more often, but I didn’t think much of it at the time.
What did stand out was how often she mentioned one particular student. She’d talk about how dedicated he was, what a hard worker he seemed to be. Then came the constant texts. I found it odd, but I trusted her. She was a teacher, after all.
One day, this student unexpectedly showed up at our door with coffee. I was supposed to be at work, but had stayed home a little longer that morning. I answered the door, and the kid looked terrified to see me. My wife tried to play it off like it was a surprise gesture from a thoughtful student. I let it go. I didn’t want to seem paranoid.
Later that day, I came home from work early. The bed wasn’t made, which was unusual, and I could hear the shower running. Thinking nothing of it, I walked into the bathroom—only to find my wife in the shower… with the student. An 18-year-old high school senior.
I didn’t say a word. I just turned around, walked out, got in my car, and drove to my parents’ house. I’ve been staying there since.
That same day, I contacted the school district to report what happened and request disciplinary action. Shockingly, they brushed it off—acted like it wasn’t serious, or not their concern. It was clear they weren’t going to do anything about it.
My wife texted me later that night, apologizing and saying she was sorry for what she’d done. I haven’t responded. I don’t even know what to say.
I still feel like I’m in shock. I thought I knew who she was. I thought I knew what our marriage was.
