đ Blended Family Lessons at Graduation

When my son graduated high school, I asked my ex-husband not to bring his wife. I told myself it would âkeep things peaceful.â
The ceremony was perfectâtears, photos, celebration. But at the end, my son looked at me and said quietly:
âMom, youâll never understand how important it is for everyone I care about to be included on days like this.â
His words cut deep. I realized I had been protecting my own feelingsânot his.
That night, I called my ex and his wife. I apologized. We agreed to take small steps toward respect.
It wasnât easy. But it mattered. Because blended families arenât about choosing sidesâtheyâre about choosing love.
From that day on, I promised myself: my sonâs happiness comes first. Always.
