I booked a hotel for a romantic weekend with my boyfriend after months of being apart. The price seemed great, and the reviews were good, but when we arrived, everything went downhill fast. The hotel was under construction, and tradespeople were everywhere. It was supposed to be a luxury stay, but the reality was a mess.
When we checked in, the staff had to move a sign advertising their “upcoming diabetes workshop” out of the way. Our room was already being converted into a senior’s residence, complete with emergency pull cords, accessibility features, and the most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever slept on. The bathroom was set up with grab bars, and the whole place had the vibe of a nursing home, not a romantic getaway.
We couldn’t cancel and rebook; it was too late. I was mortified, embarrassed to even bring my boyfriend there. We ended up laughing about it later, but that hotel stay was an unforgettable disaster. Never again.
