I Refuse to Forgive My Parents for Taking Away the Life I Deserved

Growing up, I believed my family was struggling financially. Every time I asked for things like ballet lessons or birthday parties, my parents said we couldn’t afford it. Over time, I stopped asking and accepted missing out while my friends enjoyed their lives.
But everything changed when I visited my dad’s office recently. I saw a drawer slightly open and found documents revealing they owned multiple properties, had large savings, and investments — they were financially secure all along.
When I confronted them, they said they wanted me to grow up humble and work hard, planning to give me the money “when the time was right.” But I felt betrayed. I had sacrificed so much, thinking we were poor, and now that trust was broken.
I left that night, needing space to heal. Their intentions may have been good, but the secrecy cost me dearly.
