Young Manager Fires Much Older Employee After He Pretended To Be His Supervisor To Impress Clients

A 28-year-old construction company owner fired a much older employee — a friend of their parents — after discovering he had been falsely presenting himself as the boss to clients. The employee, in his 50s, was hired as a favor to the parents, despite early signs of disrespect and undermining behavior.
The final straw came when a client insisted on speaking to the “real manager,” pointing to the older employee, who had introduced himself as the person in charge. When confronted, he admitted to the deception and claimed he knew how to run the business better.
The young owner fired him on the spot in front of staff and the client. Although their parents were upset, the owner stood by the decision, realizing they had overlooked the red flags for too long. Other employees had apparently known about the situation but remained silent.
