Former President Barack Obama has broken his usual silence to respond to President Donald Trump’s recent accusation that Obama committed treason by allegedly trying to “steal” the 2016 election.
Trump claimed the Obama administration manipulated intelligence around Russian interference, despite having no evidence that the outcome was affected. The remarks followed statements from Tulsi Gabbard accusing Obama-era officials of a “treasonous conspiracy.”
Obama’s spokesperson, Patrick Rodenbush, called the allegations “bizarre” and “ridiculous,” noting that Russia did attempt to interfere in the election but did not successfully alter votes. Rodenbush described Trump’s claims as a “weak attempt at distraction.”
The controversy comes amid other tensions in Trum
p’s base, including fallout over the Epstein case, which has been a major discussion point among MAGA supporters.
