My Daughter’s Teacher Threatened Her Because She’s a Picky Eater

My 10-year-old daughter, Emma, has stomach issues, so I pack her a simple lunch she can handle—usually a toasted sandwich, crisps, and a banana, plus some money for a drink.
During a parent-teacher conference, one teacher criticized me harshly for giving her the same lunch every day. She even threatened Emma: “Bring a healthier lunch tomorrow, or you’ll fail my class.”
I explained Emma’s medical condition, but the teacher dismissed me, claiming I gave her too much money and wasn’t paying enough attention to her health. I stood my ground and warned that I’d report her to the school board if she treated my daughter unfairly.
The situation highlighted how important it is for teachers to understand a child’s individual needs and for parents to advocate for their kids, even in the face of unfair criticism.
